Dhrubatara Cup International Chess in Nepal Dec 24

Hello chess blog friends, a popular chess open tournament in Nepal, the fourth edition of the Dhrubatara Cup International Chess Tournament from December 24-29. The event is being organised by the Dhrubatara Sporting Club of Damak, Jhapa. 



The schedule will be over nine rounds based on Swiss league format of FIDE. About $1000 will go to the winner along with cash prizes for at least 45 other players. About 150 players from different 10 countries are expected to participate in the six-day tournament. Manish Hamal is the defending champion, while Indian players won the titles of the first two editions.

The annual chess tournament is one of the most popular chess events in the region particularly as it adds to the Nepal chess calendar where chess is just developing.
