Sharjah Capital of Islamic Culture Chess Championships from Nov 14 - 24
Hello chess blog friends, there's a brand new chess event - the Sharjah Capital of Islamic Culture Chess Championships - coming up in the United Arab Emirates this November. The UAE Chess Federation & Sharjah Chess and Cultural Club, on behalf of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and FIDE, invite every federation to participate in the Sharjah Capital of Islamic Culture Individual Chess Championships open and Women’s scheduled 14th November (Arrival) to 24th November (Departure) 2014 in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
RULES & REGULATIONS
The Championships will be played in accordance to the FIDE rules and regulations:
1. ELIGIBILITY & PARTICIPATION1.1 Each Federation from FIDE, listed in the OIC statute, can enter one official player in the open Championship and one official player in the Women’s Championship. With maximum 4 players from each Federation.
1.2 The Organizing Committee shall have additional players per section and shall hold players in reserve to make an even number of participants, if necessary.
2. PLAYING CONDITIONS
The Championships shall be conducted as a Swiss system, with 9 rounds. Time control is 90 minutes, with 30 seconds additional time per move, starting from move 1, for each player for the whole game. All games will be played using digital clocks.
3. TIE BREAK
The Tiebreak system for the overall ranking will be calculated by the following order:
- Sum of Direct Encounters if tied players have all played each other.
- Number of winning
- Buchholz
4. PAIRINGS
Pairings will be made using the software Swiss Manager. The pairings will be announced as soon as possible after the finish of each round.
5. CHIEF ARBITER AND DEPUTY ARBITERS:
The Chief Arbiter is (IA) Sultan Al Taher. His Deputy And Assistants will be appointed by the Organizing committee.
6. APPEALS COMMITTEE
The Chairman of Appeals will be announced during player meeting in consult with FIDE and two members plus two reserves will be chosen from the players. The members of the Appeals Committee will be selected during the technical meeting. The deposit fee will be $200 for each written protest, refundable, if the protest is upheld.
7. REGISTRATION
Entry shall be submitted to Sharjah Chess Club in the attached registration form before 14th October, 2014, together with payment of any entry fees. If the Federations submit the Registration form of their player(s) after the deadline, they may have to pay penalty 100$. A digital ID photo and passport scan of each player and accompanying person should be sent By email to the Organizing Committee.

8. REGISTRATION FEE
Each participant must pay 200$ to the organizers for accreditation, internal transportation and
Other local organizational expenses. The extra players will pay 250$
Extra Players, Accompanying Persons, Delegates , Coaches in a Single Full Board Room = 110$ Per Day
Extra Players, Accompanying Persons, Delegates , Coaches in a Double Full Board Room = 180$ Per Day (90$ Per Person).
9. TRAVELLING EXPENSES
All travel expenses shall be borne by the participating Federations.
10. ACCOMMODATION
The official hotels are Holiday International Hotel. Grand excelsior and Sharjah Centro. The official players from each National Federation will be provided with board & lodging From afternoon of 14th November till morning of 24th November. Participants will be Accommodated in twin-shared bedrooms (two persons per room). Extra players will be responsible for the payment of their board and lodging at the official hotel
11. PRIZES
The Total prize fund is 17,100 US$.
All cash prizes shall be shared equally among tied players.
MEN: WOMEN:
1st: 4,000$ 2nd: 2,500$ 1st: 2500$ 2nd: 1500$
3rd: 1,500$ 4th: 1,000$ 3rd: 800$ 4th: 700$
5th: 800$ 6th: 700$ 5th: 600$ 6th: 500$
7th: 600$ 8th: 500$ 7th: 400$ 8th: 400$
12. VISAS
Entry visa will be issued by the UAE Ministry of Internal for the respective countries. All participants should send their passport copy and photograph by 13th October to the Organizing committee.
13. PAYMENTS
All payments due to the Organizers for the registration fee, entry fee and hotel accommodation expenses must be paid in advance to the credit of Sharjah Chess Club. Proof there of (bank transfer certificate) must be sent along with the registration forms. All payments shall be made by 14th October 2014 to:
