US Chess 2014 - Searching for 'Ms Fischer' worth $64,000!

Hello Chess Blog friends, women chess players in the US have a special chess prize to fight for -- the $64,000 Fischer Bonus Prize!

In the 1964 U.S. Chess Championship, the then 20-year-old Bobby Fischer dominated the event scoring a perfect 11-0 score. In 2014, it is the 50th anniversary of that record. Rex Sinquefield - the St Louis benefactor - wants to do his best to give away that prize this year!

This very generous chess benefactor has offered up the incentive $64,000 Fischer Bonus Prize numerous times to any U.S. Championship competitor who can match such convincing command of his challengers. On Friday, day two of the U.S. Chess Championships, all games were drawn so in the open section so none of the men can now go for the prize.

Sinquefield, however, has now offered that prize in the women's section. There are still two women players still with a perfect score after two rounds - Sabina Foisor and defending champion Irina Krush.
