French GM Laurent Fressinet wins Sigeman Chess Tournament 2014
Hello chess friends, GM Laurent Fressinet has won the 22nd Sigeman Chess Tournament 2014. The Limhamn Chess Club has just hosted the 22nd annual Sigeman Chess Tournament. The tournament took place at the classical Hipp Theater in central Malmo, for the seventeenth time. This year's tournament was played over 5 rounds with all the players playing on a round-robin format.
Foreign players included Jan Timman, Laurent Fressinet and Jon Ludvig Hammer. The home team consists of Nils Grandelius, who has turned into Sweden's strongest and most active chess player, new Grandmaster Erik Blomqvist and International Master Axel Smith. The tournament was held May 15 to 19.
The time control was: 100 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the remaining moves with 30 seconds cumulative increment for each move starting from the first move.
