European Individual Chess R3: Five in Joint Lead

Three rounds have been played at the European Individual Chess championship 2014 in Yerevan, Armenia. Five players are in joint lead with a perfect score including IM Artemiev Vladislav RUS 2621, GM Riazantsev Alexander RUS 2689, GM Smirin Ilia ISR 2644, GM Najer Evgeniy RUS 2633 and GM Kovalenko Igor LAT 2626.  


In joint second place with 2.5 points each is a group including GM Onischuk Vladimir UKR 2583, GM Goganov Aleksey RUS 2569, GM Kovalev Vladislav BLR 2548, GM Antipov Mikhail Al. RUS 2507, GM Popilski Gil ISR 2503, GM Dubov Daniil RUS 2618 2.5 2604, GM Eljanov Pavel UKR 2723, GM Fressinet Laurent FRA 2709, GM Ipatov Alexander TUR 2614, GM Pashikian Arman ARM 2612, GM Kryvoruchko Yuriy UKR 2706, GM Navara David CZE 2700, GM Jobava Baadur GEO 2716, GM Inarkiev Ernesto RUS 2698, GM Wojtaszek Radoslaw POL 2713, GM Cheparinov Ivan BUL 2681, GM Polgar Judit HUN 2693, GM Alekseev Evgeny RUS 2692, GM Shimanov Aleksandr RUS 2649 and GM Hovhannisyan Robert ARM 2611.
The total prize fund is 1,60,000 Euros, with 20,000 for first place, 16,000 for second. The European Individual Championship 2014 is a qualification event for the next World Cup. According to FIDE regulations and the decision of the ECU Board, 23 players will qualify.
