Khazar Chess Open: GMs Azer Mirzoev, Sipke Ernst Tie for First

Hello everyone,

Grandmasters Azer Mirzoev and Sipke Ernst have jointly won the Khazar International Chess Open, according to a FIDE chess news update. The 12th Khazar International Open Chess Tournament took place 11-18th February at the Yadegar Imam Sport Complex in Rasht, Iran. The tournament was played in four sections:
- Open A for players rated above 2100
- Open B for players rated under 2100
- Open C for women
- Open D for youth under 14

In the Open A Grandmasters Azer Mirzoev (Azerbaijan) and Sipke Ernst (Netherlands) shared the first place with 8,0 points each. Ehsan Ghaem Maghami and Vasily Papin were left full point behind. A total of 105 players from 15 countries competed in the mains section. The tournament was organized by the Guilan Chess Association and Kiumars Bayat. The Chief Arbiter was IA Hamidreza Pourshahmari.
