The Alekhine Chess Club, Kolkata, India is organising the 19th edition of their International Open Grandmaster Chess Tournament, with a $22,500 prize money from March 18-27 for players rated 2200 and above. The last date for entries is March 10 though entries would be also be accepted until March 16 with late fee.
The tournament will be of 10 rounds, played under a time control of 90 minutes for the first 40 moves and remaining game in 30 minutes, with an increment of 30 seconds from move 1. Top chess players who participated in the previous edition of the tournament included Radoslaw Wojtaszek of Poland, Anton Korobov of Ukraine, Sergei Tiviakov of Nederlands, Ni Hua of China SS Ganguly, Sandipan Chanda, Abhijeet Gupta, SP Sethuraman and B. Adhiban from India.
