Hello everyone,
You're sure to have heard of the Cannes Film Festival, but have you heard of the Cannes Games Festival including three chess tournaments?
Cannes is hosting the chess tournaments this February 23-March 2. The Cannes Chess Association had to pause registration after crossing the record mark of over 400 players including GMs Christian Bauer (2626), Jean-Marc Degraeve (2588), Nikita Maiorov (2548), Gabuzyan Hovhaness (2532), Michael Roiz (2614), Chao Liao (2680) and others. The organisers might have to restrict entry due to security and organisation reasons.
The event includes three chess tournaments played with a Time control: 90 min for 40 moves + 30 min KO. Plus 30s increment per move over 9 rounds of Swiss System with Erick Mouret as chief arbiter. The event includes Three tournaments: Tournament A >2200 elo Tournament B 2.200€ 9 rounds on 8 days. The tournament will take place in the beautiful Rotonde Lerins in the Palais des Festivals of Cannes.
