Russian Students' Chess Winners: GM Igor Lysyj and Yulia Dogodkina

Hello everyone,

The Russian Chess Championships for students were held from 24th September to 2nd October at the SGSEU chess club in Saratov. The tournament was played over nine rounds of Swiss system and draw offers were not allowed before move 40. GM Igor Lysyj from the Ural State Mining University convincingly won the title after concluding the race with 8,5/9 points. 

Nikita Matinyan (SGSEU), Alexandr Predke and Ivan Bukavshin (both - USMU) finished on shared 2nd place full point behind the winner. You can find more details and photographs at the official website of the Russian Students' Chess Tournament.
 

In the team competition the first place goes to Ural State Mining University (Ekaterinburg), second to SGSEU (Saratov), and third to KNITU (Kazan). Among the girls Yulia Dogodkina (SGSEU) excelled with 8,0/9 points. Viktoria Tarasova (SGSEU) is second, while Irina Petruhina (Tomsk) is third. SGSEU team won the team competition among girls. KNITU is second and the USMU is third.
