Marshall Chess Academy GM School Opens September 30

Chess Blog for Daily Chess News and Trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2013

Hi everyone,

The famous Marshall Chess Club, one of the oldest chess clubs in the United States, is housed in the beautiful townhouse in Greenwich Village since 1931. Its rooms have seen some of the greatest players in the world play The Royal Game.

This is where José Raúl Capablanca gave his last exhibition, where Alexander Alekhine visited and played speed chess, and where thirteen-year-old Bobby Fischer defeated Donald Byrne in "The Game of the Century."

The Grandmaster Chess School is aimed at juniors who are serious about improving their game. Taught in small groups by two of the country’s most sought-after chess coaches, Grandmasters Giorgi Kacheishvili and Tamaz Gelashvili, each student will receive individual attention and a custom-tailored training program.

At the Grandmaster School, students are guaranteed to see progress! GM Kacheishvili is a two-time Georgian national champion and has won many of the largest open tournaments in the United States and overseas; he is renowned for his work as a chess coach and trains scholastic players through grandmasters. GM Gelashvili is also a former Georgian champion, several time member of the Olympiad team in addition to winning many national and international tournaments; he has many years of experience developing junior players.
