Hi everyone,

Greece has been promoting and hosting chess events quite a bit in the recent past. In that series, the 8th Euro Chess Tournament began on September 5 at the Caldera Beach hotel in Gerani, western Crete. The event runs until September 8. In the chess championship of the European Union Central Banks, 70 employees from ten central banks of Austria, Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Italy, Holland, Hungary, Turkey, the Czech Republic and Greece are participating.

During the press conference, the Mayor of Platanias, Mr. Malandrakis said, "This tournament is a good opportunity to upgrade the image of our country abroad. Through this chess weekend, all competitors and those who accompany them, will be given the opportunity to get to know the place, its beauties and cultural monuments us as well as our products.”

The event runs under the auspices of the Employee Federation of European Central Banks.
