Asean Chess Championships 2013 begin in Thailand

Hi everyone, 

Nguyen Anh Koi U12 is already a star in Vietnam, many other local stars are entering the competition

The ASEAN Chess Championships 2013 for U-8, U-10, U-12, U-14, U-16, and U-20 Age-Groups for Girls and Open begin in Thailand today. Standard, rapid, and blitz chess will be part of the festival program with the following time controls:

Standard Chess: Each player has 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment (starting from first move).
Rapid Chess: Each player has 25 minutes to complete the game.
Blitz Chess: Each player has 5 minutes to complete the game.

A total of 386 players among which 3 IMs, 3 WIMs, 19 FMs, and 10 WFMs will participate in the rapid championship. See full list of ASEAN girls participants here and the full list of ASEAN boys participants here. Tomorrow the lists for the standard and blitz competitions will be announced.

The top three players of each group will be awarded medals, while the winners of the ASEAN U20 girls and boys groups will be awarded WIM and IM titles.

    Children's chess in Thailand that too in Chiang Mai, now that's new and a welcome sign. :)
