World School Chess Championships 2013 begin in Porto Carras, Greece

Here is a comprehensive report on the World School Chess Championships 2013 that has begun in the resort Porto Carras, Halkidiki, Greece. A record number of 550 players from 42 countries are taking part in the event. Six categories both for boys and girls are being played. The Under-17 open group has strong players with ratings that go up to 2400 elo points. Here are all the relevant links via Chessdom to games and results. As it is common for youth chess with many interesting games and surprising results. Replay the top games with analysis here and follow the links for the relevant standings after the first round.

Alexander The Great Open is taking place concurrently and in the same playing hall with the World School. It is very convenient for the trainers and accompanying persons to compete in this event and follow the games of the school-kids. There is also a strong female representation with Women Grandmasters Sukandar, Stojanovic, Klinova and World Senior Champion Strutinskaya, in the field.
