Israeli Chess Champions 2013: Tamir Nabaty and Olga Vasiliev

More chess news updates from national chess championships around the world: The Israeli Chess Championships 2013 for men and women took place on 6th-14th April at the Palm Beach Hotel in Acre, Israel, according to a Chessdom news post. In the main event, GM Tamir Nabaty took the winner’s trophy after showing a great 2681 rating performance and getting 6.5 points in the 9-round Swiss. He was undefeated and finished the event with two straight wins. Three players tied at 6/9. Veteran GM Ilia Smirin and GM Viktor Mikhalevski finished second and third, respectively. Among the women, WIM Olga Vasiliev stood out and got clear first place with 7/9 points, leaving her closest follower a whole point behind. The event counted with the support of the National Lottery, which donated 500.000 New Shekels to the Israeli Chess Federation recently. Tournament website.
