Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2013

Hi everyone,

The Cuban GM Lazaro Bruzon and Isan Ortiz will not compete in the Jose Raul Capablanca international tournament to be held in Havana from April 21 to the first of May, because of international commitments, says the Cuban federation spokesman, the referee FIDE José Luis Ramirez.

Bruzón, second player in Cuba and Latin America for his 2707 elo points and Isan Ortiz, national champions, will represent Cuba in the 2.3 zonal tournament to be played from April 26 in San Jose, Costa Rica. The prize will be tickets to the World Cup.

The 48th edition of the Capablanca Chess tournament will include four groups - The Elite includes Russian GM Dmitry Andreikin(2727), Ernesto Inarkiev(2688), Indian Pentala Hariskrisna(2705), Hungarian Zoltan Almasi (2689), Cubans Leinier Dominguez (2723) and Yunieski Quesada (2596).

The tournament is rated as a FIDE Category 18 event that will run as a double round-robin event with one day of rest. Watch Live via Chessdom.
