Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2012
Hi everyone,
Hi everyone,
Fide has released the chess ratings for the month of February, 2013. World No. 1 Magnus Carlsen reached another chess milestone in the first month of 2013 - He equaled Garry Kasparov's 1999 record of 10 points at the just-concluded Tata Steel Chess in Wijk aan Zee. He had already broken Kasparov's earlier highest-ever rating record of 2851 in December, 2012 at the London Chess Classic.
In the February chess ratings list, Carlsen is at 2872. In second place is Vladimir Kramnik - a full 62 points away. In the women's sections, the top places have remained unchanged as only Hou Yifan and Pia Cramling (from the top-10) have played any games in January, 2013. Here are the top players. Read the full rating lists at the Fide website.
