Hi everyone,

The latest chess news update via Fide comes from the Dominican Republic - another country where chess is becoming popular. The  IV Christmas Chess Tournament Frank Peralta in Memoriam was a great success during the Christmas weekend at the Chess Club Ozama. More than 100 players participated in the chess event.

The winners of this traditional Christmas tournament were: in the section A, the first place went to Braulio Ramirez with 4.5 points, the second place went to Alejandro Pacheco with 4 points and the third place for William Puntier with 3.5.

In the section B, there was a tie for first place between Emmanuel Cedeno and Mr. Adolfo Brito, with 4.5 points; the third place went to Richard Lugo with 4 points.

In the junior category, the first place went to Joshua Perez from the Guaricano Chess Club with 4.5 points, followed by Carlos Vasquez, also from the Guaricano Club, and the third place went to Neudys Lopez Barahona.

At the conclusion of the tournament, Carlos Marte, president of the Chess Club Ozama, thanked all the players for their participation and thanked the DNCD for their support to make this event successful, and the Dominican Chess Federation that sent the equipment delivered for the tournament.
