GM Sanan Sjugirov Wins Magistral Casino de Barcelona Chess

The latest chess tournament news is that GM Sanan Sjugirov has won the Magistral Casino de Barcelona Chess Tournament 2012. He took a clear first place with 7/9 points. In second place was GM Yuniesky Quesada with six points. The Chess Tournament Magistral Casino de Barcelona 2012 was held on 23-31st October at the Casino of Barcelona (Marina Avenue, 19-21) as a ten-player round robin, according to the latest updates via Chessdom.
The Tournament was organised by the Catalonian Chess Federation and sponsored by the Casino of Barcelona (Group Peralada), Barcelona City Hall and and the Autonomous Government of Catalonia. A couple of days before the start of the event, the last year Magistral winner Ivan Salgado Lopez and winner of the 2012 Catalan chess circuit Emilio Cordova were substituted by the legendary GM Predrag Nikolic and Georgian GM Levan Aroshidze.
Final standings:
1. GM Sjugirov Sanan RUS 2624 – 7
2. GM Quesada Perez Yuniesky CUB 2604 – 6
3. GM Nielsen Peter Heine DEN 2662 – 5.5
4-5. GM Sokolov Ivan NED 2690 and GM Aroshidze Levan GEO 2560 – 5
6. IM Alonso Rosell Alvar ESP 2540 – 4
7. IM Fluvia Poyatos Joan ESP 2490 – 3.5
8-10. GM Oms Pallisse Josep ESP 2506, GM Nikolic Predrag BIH 2638 and GM Munoz Pantoja Miguel ESP 2460 – 3
