University Chess in Nairobi: Daystar Team Wins Title

Hi everyone,

We have more chess news coming from Africa. Hosts Daystar University clinched the Daystar Open Chess Championship Trophy, in the University and College Category after securing a total of 11 points at Athi River Campus. University of Nairobi finished second while Strathmore University consolidated third position. 
National Olympiad Chess captain Brian Kidula was among the participants at this year's championships. Uganda's Herold Wanyama scooped the Men's Title with 7 points and was closely followed by his compatriot Bob Bibisa who managed 6.7 points. Kenya's Mehul Gohil emerged 3rd with 5.5 points. In the women's section, 10-year-old Sharanya Iyengar won with 5.7 points ahead of Purity Maina. Ivy Amoko and Christine Namaganda shared the 3rd place.
