Hi everyone,
October 17 is the 50th anniversary of Nona Gaprindashvili winning the Women's World Chess Championship title. Nona Gaprindashvili became the Women's World Champion in 1962, when she won the title from the reigning Russian Champion Elizaveta Bykova by a score of 9-2. The championship match was played in Moscow. A 20-year old Gaprindashvili crushed the defending champion Elizabeth Bykova, not losing a single game, to become the fifth - at that time the youngest - Women's World Chess Champion. We congratulate Nona Gaprindashvili on the anniversary and wish her more and more chess happiness ahead.
