Women's Chess Grand Prix Jermuk R4: Ju Wenjun in Sole Lead with Exciting Win Over Ruan Lufei

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2012
Hi everyone,

China's Ju Wenjun used a sparkling Rook sac to get ahead of joint leader Ruan Lufei, also of China, in the fourth round at the Jermuk Women's Chess Grand Prix. This gives Wenjun a one-point lead over the rest of the field at the event. Wenjun has 3.5 points and you can view the nice game with Chess King.

Meanwhile, Women's World Chess Champion and her previous challenger Koneru Humpy also played out a draw - though a fighting and exciting one. Both the players are in second place with 2.5 points each. You can see the Humpy-Yifan game with Chess King. Yifan defended very well to maintain the draw. Armenian's Lilit Mkrtchian also beat Ekaterina Kovalevskaya.
