The Armed Forces Officers' Club will organise the Ramadan Open Chess tournament from July 22-25 July 2012, in cooperation with the Abu Dhabi Chess & Culture Club, at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Abu Dhab, UAE with four separate tournaments - $8,000 Masters tournament, $2,000 Ladies tournament, $2,000 Youth tournament and $1,300 Blitz tournament.

But, do you know what's unique about this chess tournament? Possibly nowhere in the world is the prize distribution of a chess tournament held after 1 am (beyond midnight)! That is because, during the fasting month of Ramadan, Islamic cities bustle with activity after sunset when the fast has been broken!
