Vintage Chess Video - Chicago Coffee House Chess Talents!
Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2012
Hi everyone,
We found this very nice vintage collection of portraits put up as a chess video collage by Matthias Pfau. We don't have the details and would appreciate if someone sent us all the names. However, enjoy the video. Do you play chess in Chicago?

All of the players depicted in the video are amateurs and only two of them received any chess related media coverage in the past. They are the recently deceased Ron Washington, and Tom Murhpy. The fact that all of them are real characters caught in a contemplative moment makes the images work. Their chess qualifications don't matter for the purpose of the video. They hang out in Chicago at the North Ave beach and a Starbucks nearby. My sole intent was to capture the mood of the venues and people that is all. Thanks for noticing the video.
cheers
Matthias
