Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2012

Hi everyone,

GM Jaan Ehlvest has won the Heart of Finland Chess Open organised in the pretty town of Jyväskylä for the 22nd time from July 9-15. Participants included 145 participants from seven countries, including 8 Grandmasters and 7 International Masters.

The dates coincided with the town’s Summer Festival, a rich cultural week with theatre and music performances on the streets of Jyväskylä – a pleasant spare time programme for the participants.

Grandmaster Jaan Ehlvest, formerly from Estonia and now representing the USA, collected 7.5/9 points to take a clear first place and the prize of 1000 EUR. Find more details at the official website.
