Fressinet, Van Wely Win 11th Festival International des Echecs de la ville de Chefchaouen

Hi everyone,
The 11th Festival International des Echecs de la ville de Chefchaouen was held from July 1-5 at the Cultural and Sports Complex Mohammed VI in Chefchaouen, Tangier-Tetouan province, Morocco.
The Main Event was the 9-round swiss semi open with a time control of 65 minutes for the whole game. 76 players competed, including a group of strong foreign Grandmasters.
Laurent Fressinet of France and Loek Van Wely from Netherlands shared the first place with 8 points each. A 13-round Night Blitz Marathon was played outdoors on 4th July. The famous speed expert Laurent Fressinet took a clear first place with 11.5 points, half a point ahead of his compatriot Sebastien Maze.
The organisers also held a giant simultaneous exhibition on the historic square d’Uta Al Hammam.
