South Africa Chess Open Entries Close on June 25

Hi everyone,

Entries to the 2012 South African Open Chess Championship close on June 25. South Africa and Chess Western Province are holding the event at the Newlands Stadium Convention Centre in the City of Cape Town in Western Province, South Africa.

The Championships encompass the following events:
• The 2012 South African Open Chess Championships (Championship section)
• The 2012 South African Open Chess Championships (B – section)
• The 2012 South African Open Blitz Chess Championships

The 2012 South African Open Chess Championships and the 2012 South African Open Blitz Chess Championships are open to all chess players without restriction.

The 2012 South African B-Section is restricted to non-FIDE titled players who have a FIDE or national chess rating in their home country of less than 1500 (or equivalent) and are younger than 18 years of age on the starting day of the tournament.

Any player that is eligible to play in the B-section may still elect to play in the Championship section should they wish to do so.

Entries officially close on 25 June 2012 and acceptance of entries after this date will be subject to the discretion of the tournament organisers.

The draw for round 1 will be posted by 17.45 on the evening of Friday June 29. Entries for the SA Open Blitz Championship officially close at midnight on 3 July 2012 and acceptance of entries after this date will be subject to the discretion of the tournament organisers.
