Mayor's Chess Cup Round 5 - Chadaev, Rahman, Gomes in Joint Lead

Hi everyone,
The Mumbai Mayor's Chess Cup has three joint leaders after five rounds - Nikolai Chadaev of Russia, Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh and John Paul Gomez of Philippines. (photo: Top Seed GM Aleksandrov from Belarus) All three have scored five wins and are followed by nine players just half a point behind. There are more than 300 players taking part in the event.
Attila Czebe of Hungary was the only GM casualty, losing to local lad Rakesh Kulkarni, much to the delight of the watching audience. Untitled Atul Dahale defeated Hungarian IM Anita Gara. A total of 17 Grandmasters apart from 35 International Masters and Women Grandmasters from 11 countries are taking part in the event. The countries are India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, USA, Nepal, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Hungary, Russia, Kazakhstan. Philippines. GM Alexej Aleksandrov from Belarus (2606).
