On June 16, the Kasparov Chess Foundation celebrated their 10th Anniversary with a chess festival in Bryant Park, Midtown, NYC. Hundreds of kids from all over the NY Metropolitan area enjoyed the friendly rapid tournament as well as games with friends and parents on the giant chess pieces. The USCF report by Richard Krueger says, "Garry’s presentation on the big screen featured the past 10 years of KCF and his plans to expand it to all continents throughout the world. We also had a special cake prepared for the occasion, presented to Garry and Michael, with a special appearance by Garry’s five-year-old daughter who blew out the candles."
Kasparov was also available for book signing, photos with kids and interviews with the press, while all participants received T-shirts and medals which commemorated KCF’s 10th anniversary.
