An interesting chess report in The Maravi Post online says legislators from Malawi Parliament will play a friendly chess game against Lilongwe based chess veterans!
The game is part of preparations for Members of Parliament team, which is expected to travel to Zambia alongside football and netball teams from the national assembly for friendly games against Zambian Members of Parliament.
Leading the MPs against the veterans will be Chess Association of Malawi President and MP for Chitipa East Kezzie Msukwa, who boasts of vast experience in the game, having once been national chess champion during his hey days. Other players expected to feature for the Parliamentarians side include Cabinet Minister Ken Kandodo Banda, Lingson Berekanyama and Hon Lowe. Notable faces in the veterans side include DPP campaign director Ken Zikhale Ng’oma, Ackim Mwale and Mwangi Mwankenenge. Former Reserve Bank Governor Perks Ligoya, who once served as President of Chess Association of Malawi, is also expected feature for the veterans’ team. The game will be played in the spacious Carlsberg Hall of Fame at the Lilongwe Golf Club.
