Bu Xiangzhi Wins Hainan Danzhou Chess Tournament

Hi everyone,

GM Bu Xiangzhi has just won the Hainan Danzhou Chess Tournament that was held from May 29 to June 7 in China. This was the third edition of the event.

China's top 10 Grandmasters took part in the round robin chess tournament giving it an average elo of 2631. The first place was shared by Bu Xiangzhi and former Asian Chess champion Ni Hua, but the former won the event on tiebreak. He had earlier won the first edition of the tournament. The second edition of the tournament had been won by Yu Yangyi who took the third place in the event this time.

Final standings:
1-2. GM Bu Xiangzhi CHN 2656 and GM Ni Hua CHN 2673 – 6.0
3-5. GM Wen Yang CHN 2550, GM Yu Yangyi CHN 2626 and GM Ding Liren CHN 2679 – 5.0
6. GM Zhao Jun CHN 2577 – 4.5
7-9. GM Zhou Jianchao CHN 2609, GM Wang Yue CHN 2690 and GM Zhou Weiqi CHN 2624 – 3.5
10. GM Hou Yifan CHN 2623 – 3.0
