Debashis Das has won the Indian National Challengers Chess Championship 2012. Third seed and World Under-18 Bronze medalist, IM Das won the 50th edition of the championship with a total of 10 points. Second place went to Bitan Banerjee who earned just a half point less. FM Diptayan Ghosh, G Akash of Tamil Nadu, and Sagar Shah, tied for the second place with 9.5 points each. Ghost and Akash were declared second and third on the basis of better tiebreak score. Sagar Shah was fourth.
Top 30 players from this event qualified for the forthcoming National Premier Chess Championship which is scheduled to be held in October.
