Capablanca Chess Memorial R5: Vassily Ivanchuk in Sole Lead

The latest chess news from the Capablanca Chess Memorial in Havana, Cuba, is that Vassily Ivanchuk has sprung into sole lead after five rounds. Wednesday is a break and the tournament resumes on Thursday.
Ivanchuk remains undefeated with 3.5 points. He beat Czech player Viktor Laznicka on Tuesday. Earlier, he had beaten Cuba’s Leinier Dominguez and tied with the Russians Vladimir Potkin and Ian Nepomniachtchi, as well as with another local player Yunieski Quesada.
According to the Prensa Latina news agency, Cuban grandmaster Dominguez is in second place with three points – just ahead of Laznicka and Nepomniachtchi, both with 2.5 points.
On Thursday, at the beginning of the second round, matches will be seen between Potkin and Ivanchuk; Dominguez and Laznicka; and Nepomniachtchi and Quesada. You can access the official site of the Capablanca Chess Memorial here.
