The Capablanca Chess Memorial has begun and the first round would be played on Friday in the Elite Group.
The 47th Capablanca Memorial is taking place in the traditional venue of Havana, Cuba from May 4-14. (Yes, Vassily Ivanchuk is playing, before you ask).

The Capablanca Chess Memorial has begun and the first round would be played on Friday in the Elite Group.
The 47th Capablanca Memorial is taking place in the traditional venue of Havana, Cuba from May 4-14. (Yes, Vassily Ivanchuk is playing, before you ask).
The Elite Group would have the five-time champion 2005-7, 2010-11) and defending champion Vassily Ivanchuk back after a break since February. The lineup also includes Leinier Dominguez Perez, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Viktor Laznicka, Vladimir Potkin and Yuniesky Quesada. A parallel premier section would also be played with 10 players.
