World School Chess Championship Begins April 28 in Romania

The FIDE, the Romanian Chess Federation, International School Chess Union, Iasi County Chess Association are organising the 8th World School Chess Championship 2012 in Iasi, Romania. As a recognition of it’s contribution in developing of sport, the city of Iasi was awarded with the title of the European City of Sport in 2012, World School Chess Championship was an important factor in taking the decision of the European Parliament. Located in northeastern Romania at 47 north latitude and 27 east longitude, it covers seven gentle hills, like Rome also. It has a population of 350,000 inhabitants. The city enjoys a temperate continental climate, with hot summers and cold winters, the average temperature in winter down to -10 C.
The chess event will host participants from 36 countries including Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Bulgaria, Colombia, England, Finland, Hungary, India, Ukraine, USa, Venezuela, etc. You can find more details at the official website: www.wscc2012.ro.
