Magnus Carlsen Cannot Be a Chess Alien
Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2012
Hi everyone,
This one's a little disappointing as the World Chess No. 1 has had to decline an offer to play an inter-galactic alien who plays chess in the second edition of the Star Wars movie! This happened because his work permit for the U.S. could not be obtained in time for the shooting of the film. If you are good at Norwegian (or this should spur you to learn the language), the full story is available at VG Vett website.
The request had come from American producer Jeffrey Jacob "JJ" Abrams who wanted the World Chess No. 1 on the cast of the blockbuster movie Star Trek 2. But, this chess story was not to be. Alas. The new Star Trek movie is expected in theaters in 2013.
