Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2012

Hi everyone,

Alexander the Great Chess Open 2012 was held parallel to the World Amateur Chess Championship 2012. Four Grandmasters shared the first place with 6.5 points each – Kivanc Haznedaroglu from Turkey, Dejan Antic from Serbia, Athanasios Mastrovasilis from Greece and Petar Drenchev from Bulgaria.

Haznedaroglu, who held the sole lead until the eighth-round loss to Antic, took the winner’s trophy on best tie-break, but the money prizes were split equally. Read more on Fide.
