Kiril Georgiev has won the Karposh Chess Open 2012 in Skopje where the chess event was held from April 7-14. The nine-round Swiss open featured the prize fund of 17,500 euros. GM Kiril Georgiev took a clear first place with 7.5 points in the field that featured 31 Grandmasters and 22 International Masters.

Top seed Ferenc Berkes, three-times Bulgarian champion Boris Chatalbashev and reigning Turkish champion Dragan Solak shared the 2nd place with 7 points each. CM Cankut Emiroglu from Turkey finished as best place junior with 6 points. About 147 players from 16 federations took part in the tournament.
