Hi everyone,

Surely one of the strongest national chess championships in the world are the ones that take place in Russia (if not the strongest!). We are sure you would love to watch the Russian Team Chess Championship 2012 that is taking place from April 8-16 with strong players like Karjakin, Vitiugiv, Jakovenko, Malakhov, Caruana, Morozevich Svidler, Ivanchuk, Ponomariov, Potkin, Shirov, Chess Queen Kosteniuk, Gunina, Pogonina, Eljanov, Moiseenko, Savchenko, Anish Giri, etc. You can find the full list of players here.

This year it is being held in Loo district of resort city Sochi (the host of 2014 Olympics). The format is a 7-round Swiss for men and a round robin for women. Can you imagine that 22 of the top-46 chess players in the world are taking part in the event! The defending champions are SHSM-64. In the women's section, Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk is the defending champion with her team.

Here is the 2011 victory post on Chessblog.com.

Games will be live daily with analysis and reports about the championship on Chessdom.com (in English) and Chessdom.ru (in Russian). You could also find great coverage at the Russian Federation website.
