International Open Cappelle la Grande 2012 chess fest begins

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2012

Hi everyone,

The latest chess tournament update via www.chessdom.com is that the 28th International Open Cappelle la Grande is taking place from March 3-10 at the Palais des arts in Cappelle la Grande, France. A total of 490 players are participating in the chess fest.

The popular tournament features the prize fund of 30,000 EUR and starts immediately after the 11th Rochefort Chess Open, making it convenient for the players to combine participation in two events.

Cappelle-la-Grande is a small town of 8000 inhabitants in the northeast of France, near to the North Sea. It is part of the Urban Community of Dunkerque, an industrial and commercial port with residential areas housing more than 200,000 inhabitants. Last year's winner was GM Grzegorz Gajewski from Poland.

Follow the games live with computer analysis. You can access the official website for live updates.
