Hi everyone,
Somewhere, far away, in Fiji, a chess tournament took place recently. We like it when chess news starts coming from places it never used to before!
"Manoj Kumar finished second with four wins out of five and he was followed by Dr Neel Arora on three out of five and Noel Adricula who had one and a half out of five," de Asa said.
"The B grade was won by Jun Adricula with four and a half out of five, second was Brian Terubea, he had four out of five, third was Darrel with three out of five"
He said the female category was won by veteran players Gloria Sukhu with four wins out of five games. "Second was Hilda Vukikomoala and third was Amy Yuen. Keez Terubea won the secondary schools competition and Jacquelyn Masilomani won the primary school division."
FCF secretary Teliko Koroi said it was good to see a large number of young talent at the tournament.
"Also competition was intense during the day and it was neck to neck and during the day it was hard to say who would win," Koroi said.
