The 28th North American Chess Masters begins March 11th and concludes on March 15th. The event includes a four-game classical and rapid match two groups of players seeking out their GM norms.
The match features the #1 player from the Philippines, GM Wesley So, against the #2 player from Germany, GM Georg Meier in a 4 game classical and 4 game rapid match.
Grandmaster Group A is a 6 player Double Round Robin event featuring GM's Moradiabadi (IRI), Amanov (TKM), and Diamant (BRA) with IM's Gerzhoy (CAN), Mogranzini (ITA), and Molner (USA). A score of 6.5/10 is required for the GM norm.
Grandmaster Group B is a 10 player Single Round Robin with GM's Bykhovsky (ISR), Friedel (USA), and Boros (HUN) alongside IM's Yang (USA), Milman (USA), Rensch (USA) Niemer (ISR), Alesgarov (AZE), Felecan (USA), and Fierro (ECU). A score of 6.5/9 is required for the GM norm.
