The team comprises Arthur Ssegwanyi who last year won the national chess championship others on the team include two time national chess champion Harold Wanyama, Bob Bibasa and Haruna Nsubuga. The team will be led by the Uganda Chess Federation general secretary Christopher Turyahabwe, who will captain the side.

The side departs for its clash with their neighbours on Friday and will battle it out with Nairobi Chess Club over two days. Nairobi Chess Club will comprise of Mehul Gohil, Ben Magana, Hinga Githinji and Peter Gilruth.

The event is FIDE rated and is also being used as a warm-up by players from both countries. The trip is fully sponsored by Nairobi Chess Club and it is anticipated that this will become an annual event.m
