American grandmaster Hikaru Nakamura continued his good run at the 54th Reggio Emilia Chess Tournament in the sixth round on Monday. He beat Nikita Vitiugov extending his lead in the chess tournament. Meanwhile, Italian national champion Fabiano Caruana beat Alexander Morozevich and Vassily Ivanchuk went down fighting to Anish Giri.

In the women's section at the chess event, Sopiko Guramishvili beat Marina Brunello while Marianna Chierici – Maria De Rosa and Anna Sharevich – Iva Videnova chess matches were drawn.
