Here's a quick update on all the chess news summary around the world.
- Commemorating legendary chess tournaments: ChessDom has got a nice update on chess tournaments to be played in late 2011 and early 2012 commemorating the legendary chess tournaments organised in San Sebastian in 1911 and 1912. For now, the details state that the prize fund is going to be 100.000 €, system will be the knockout system creating one more parallel tournament for the losers of the first round and an International Open. Each player will play each round 2 simultaneous games, one with white and the other with black. Standby for more updates.
- 12th Bangkok Chess Club Open 2012: The event will be held from April 13-19 in Bangkok, Thailand. The chess tournament will be held in a 5-star Dusit Thani Bangkok Hotel. The tournament is expected to be the biggest and strongest ever held in Thailand. The winner of the 2011 Open was GM Jan Gustafsson. Access the official website at this link.
- Spanish Club Chess Championship finals: The Spanish Club Chess Championship finals, aka CECLUB Division de Honor are currently being held in the city of Melilla. Seven teams with over 40 GMs, 12 of which over 2700 ELO, are competing for the highest title of the season in Spain. CA Sestao Naturgas Energia and Colegio Markote-EIKM are leading the table after 2 rounds, with one win and one draw each. The ongoing round and all games from the CECLUB event can be seen with computer analysis in the Spanish Version of Chessdom.
