THE OPEN NORWEGIAN CHAMPIONSHIP 2012:
An attractive international open tournament divided into three groups.
Group A:
Saturday 28 April – Saturday 5 May
A semi-open IM and GM tournament of 9 rounds, with approximately 10 – 12 Grandmasters.
Open to players with a FIDE rating or Norwegian rating 1800 or higher. 40 moves in 2 hours, plus 1 hour extra to finish.
Group B:
Saturday 28 April – Wednesday 2 May
Open to players with a rating between 1000 and 2000. Closed to players with a rating 2000 or higher.
7-round tournament, submitted for FIDE rating.
40 moves in 1½ hours, plus 30 minutes extra to finish.
Group C:
Saturday 28 April – Wednesday 2 May
Open to players with a rating below 1250 or with no rating. (Some unrated players may also be placed in group A or B if previous results indicate this.)
7-round tournament, for national Norwegian rating.
40 moves in 1½ hours, plus 30 minutes extra to finish.
Entry fees:
Group A:
GM, IM and WGM Free
WIM and players with a FIDE rating 2300+ NOK 500
Players with a FIDE rating 2100-2299 NOK 750
Players with a FIDE rating 2000-2099 NOK 1000
Players with a FIDE rating below 2000 NOK 1250
A discount NOK 150 to players born 1996 or later.
Groups B and C:
”Lilliputs” born 1999 or later NOK 300
Juniors born 1992 or later NOK 400
Other players NOK 500
Prizes:

1. Prize Euro 1000 (app. NOK 8000) + a trophy
2. Prize NOK 5500
3. Prize NOK 4000
4. Prize NOK 2500
5. Prize NOK 1500

7., 8., 9. and 10. Prize each NOK 600
The best players of the rating groups (FIDE rating) 2150 – 2299, 2000-2149 and below 2000 are all secured a prize of NOK 1000. Also NOK 1000 to best placed woman, and to best placed senior player born 1952 or earlier.
Group B:
Prizes NOK 2500, 1250 and 600
NOK 600 to the best player with a rating below 1500.
Group C:
Prizes NOK 2000, 1000 and 500
NOK 500 to the best player with a rating below 1000.
For all the groups also:
Books or other prizes to other players to make a total of 1/3 prize winners in each rating group.
