Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hi everyone,

For all the fans of women's chess, we've got two events coming up - The Women's World Chess Championship 2011 and the Women's World Chess Team Championship 2011.

The world title match will be held in Tirana, Albania from November 13 (arrival) to November 30 (possible tie-breaks) 2011. The prize fund offered to the players is 200,000 euros. The sponsor of the match is Taci Oil International: http://www.taci-oil.com/en/index.html, headed by Mr Rezart Taci. The regulations of the Match are published in FIDE Handbook: http://www.fide.com/fide/handbook.html?id=146&view=article.

The Women's World Chess Team Championship 2011 will be held from December 17 (arrival) to December 28 in Mardin, Turkey. You may find all details of the event on official website: http://wwct2011.tsf.org.tr/.

I think the previous comment is bad taste and should be removed.

Whoa what did I say? Doesn't everyone like to photograph pretty women and where in the world would you find a great combination of beauty and brains and so many of them - whoa - not even at a fashion show or any other sports event. Guys, get your cams ready.

I think when first @Alexis posted it might be slightly offensive that he's talking about photographing women only but his second comment explains that chess team event is going to be a celebration of beauty and brains - so no offence taken.

I think the comment is perfectly ok. Though maybe the use of world 'feast' could be objected to. But that could be a language thing not a connotation won. My daughters are learning chess and they are both very pretty and beautiful human beings. Women's chess is great.

It's the world team championship. Something to look forward to any way - open or women's.

I think the Humpy-Hou match would be charming too.

All Humpy needs to do is get over her psychological hitch against Hou but its seems some kind of law of averages to come together to work for Humpy that India should have both the men and women's champion!

How would be rate Humpy-Hou match versus Anand-Gelfand? Which would get more eyeballs and chess interest? Let's be honest about this. Compare that to the world's women chess team match. Let's be honest.

Chess - in any form, paradigm, place... as long as it is grandmaster-level is worth watching! (In my humble opinion).

It would be interesting to see the composition of the teams at the world women's team chess championship. It would be interesting to watch Humpy challenge Hou.

Hou vs Humpy could be the Chinese chess machinery testing themselves against Anand. Am sure he coached her secretly.
