GM Zhou Jianchao leads in 1st Qin Huangdao Open Chess Tournament after 7 rounds

GM Zhou Jianchao is leading in the 1st Qin Huangdao Open Chess Tournament in Qin Huangdao, Hebei, China. The 9-round event is being held from September 30 to October 7, 2011. Hosted by the Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau, Qin Huangdao Municipal People’s Government, it offers a generous prize fund of $87,000. The winner takes $20,000 home.
GM Zhou Jianchao has already won two games in a row and is sole leader with 6 points from seven games. Vietnam’s GM Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and reigning China champion GM Ding Liren are half a point behind.
