Diwali chess fireworks!

Chess blog for latest chess news and chess trivia (c) Alexandra Kosteniuk, 2011

Hi everyone,

The Indian subcontinent and some other countries are celebrating a very important festival today - The 'Festival of Lights' or Diwali, or Deepawali. It's a big event in the region

There is a whole night of fireworks, prayers and even gambling to welcome the Goddess of Wealth - it signifies the triumph of good over evil. Diwali is an official holiday in IndiaNepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar, Mauritius, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago,Suriname, Malaysia, Singapore, and Fiji.

We wish all our friends a happy and prosperous Diwali and what better way to enjoy it than our own 'fireworks' on the chessboard. Enjoy.

White to play and win

And, a great chess study from our award-winning database of www.chesskillertips.com hosted by none other than Chess Queen Alexandra Kosteniuk.

I like the mix of easy, medium and hard puzzles and studies of chess here on the blog. But frankly these are a bit too difficult.

Nice puzzles - but I agree a tad difficult this Wednesday. Looking forward to some easy ones over the weekend. Come to Spain Chess Queen - you never do :(

This Diwali, may you be blessed with good fortune as long as Ganeshji's trunk, wealth and prosperity as big as his stomach, happiness as sweet as his ladoos and may your trouble be as small as his mouse! Happy Diwali All! THATS A TRADITIONAL GREETING EVEN IF IT SOUNDS FUNNY. JUST GOOGLE GANESH AND YOU WILL FIGURE OUT. HAPPY CHESS EVERYONE
