Hi everyone,
Congratulations to Grandmaster Zhao Xue for winning the third edition of the women's chess grand prix with a convincing 2.5 points despite a last round loss. It has been a brilliant tournament for the talented chinese player who played in top form - notching up one of the best performances in her career. Nothing taking away from the others, but it was just Xue's tournament. Congratulations to all the girls who participated and made yet another women's chess grand prix a delight to watch. You can access the official website at this link. Finishing second was Ju Wenjun. In joint third place were Ekaterina Kovalevskaya and Viktorija Cmilyte. Here is an interview with the winner. Enjoy.

Just read your tweet Chess Queen. Come on, don't be silly. Ok you didn't win the tournament but big deal. You don't really have anything left to prove. Let's take this on face value. Look at all the valuable things you do for chess. All the amazing things. There is a law of averages. You've been to the top and you would go right back again. Take it easy dear. My daughters idolize you.

I liked your games very much Ms Kosteniuk. No one in their right mind would go by the results. I like how you play. Soon you would be back to winning events. The improvement in play by chinese players is interesting to note.

Bring the wine, the girls of the chess world shine. THere should be more girls' tournaments. They're more fun more unpredictable - i always feel so. best wishes for the future to Alexandra Kosteniuk. I personally find her a very innovative lady who brought great visibility to the sport of chess and became world champion. I am really not sure about what a particular time period of certain performance means anything or not. My best wishes. Always. Also. My congratulations to Xue for her excellent form.
