World Chess Cup R5 tiebreaks: Ivanchuk and Grischuk through to semifinals

Hi everyone,


The chess news update from Khanty Mansiysk where the World Cup of Chess is being held is that Russian Grandmaster Alexander Grischuk and Ukrainian stalwart Vassily Ivanchuk are going to join Grandmaster Ruslan Ponomariov and Grandmaster Peter Svidler in the semifinals. 


The tiebreaks were held on Sunday. The grandmasters knocked out David Navara of Czech Republic and Teimour Radjabov of Azerbaijan.


Round 5. Rapid (25’ +10")
2.5−1.5 Ivanchuk, V (UKR) 1−0 Radjabov, Teimour (AZE) View
2.5−1.5 Grischuk, Alexander (RUS) ½-½ Navara, D (CZE) View

The semifinals will see Peter Svidler take on Ruslan Ponomariov and Vassily Ivanchuk take on Alexander Grischuk.
